In recognition of Terry Tuggle’s life and lasting service to the Central Texas community, Mayor Michael Blomquist has directed the City of Harker Heights to lower the City flag to half-staff on the morning of July 28, 2026, and return it to full staff on July 29, 2026. Mayor Blomquist said “Having been a longtime Harker Heights resident, respected businessman, and dedicated supporter of our community, service members and military families, lowering the City flag reflects our community’s gratitude for his leadership, generosity, and decades of service, while joining his family, friends, and colleagues in mourning his passing”.
Terry Tuggle’s influence across Central Texas extended far beyond banking. After moving to Harker Heights in 1988, he rose to lead First National Bank Texas and Fort Hood National Bank, helping guide significant growth while strengthening the relationship between the business community, local governments and the military. He served as chairman of the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce, was named a Fort Hood Good Neighbor and received numerous honors for his service to soldiers, families and the greater Central Texas community. His legacy of leadership, generosity and public service will continue to be felt throughout the City of Harker Heights and our region for years to come.
