The City of Harker Heights has enlisted The Retail Coach to assist in improving commercial growth to the City. The Retail Coach has completed several market studies to help maximize the City’s appeal to retail and commercial groups with interest in the region. FEBRUARY 2021 DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY REPORT 

 

COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT

The City issued one (1) new commercial construction permit within the month of February.

• 3055 Stillhouse Lake Road Suite 207 – New Commercial, Tenant Finish-Out (Chiropractic Office).

• 1,163 square feet valued at $24,000.

To date (February 28, 2021) the City has issued a total of one (1) commercial permit totaling $24,000 in project valuation for 2021.

 

RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT

The City has issued a total of six (6) permits for single-family residential construction within the month of February.

• 4 Single Family Permits in The Ridge

• 2 Single Family Permit in Other parts of the City

The City has issued a total of zero (0) permits for two-family (duplex) residential construction within the month of February.

 

To date (February 28, 2021) the City has issued a total of ten (10) residential permits in 2021; nine (9) single-family permits, one (1) two-family permits, and zero (0) multi-family permits.

 

As of February 28, 2021, the estimated population for the City of Harker Heights is 31,610 residents. This calculation is based off the total of active residential water accounts (10,643) multiplied by persons per occupied unit (2.97). According to the US Census, the population in 2010 was 26,700 residents.
