The City of Harker Heights has enlisted The Retail Coach to assist in improving commercial growth to the City. The Retail Coach has completed several market studies to help maximize the City’s appeal to retail and commercial groups with interest in the region. COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT

The City issued two (2) commercial construction permits within the month of May.
• 750 W. Central Texas Expressway, ClearSky Rehabilitation Facility
o Valued at $15,200,000.00
• 201 W. Central Texas Expressway, Building 2000, Chick Fil-A (remodel)
o Valued at $185,000.00

To date (May 31, 2022) the City has issued a total of six (6) commercial permits totaling $17,750,500.00 in project valuation for calendar year 2022.

RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT

The City has issued a total of twenty-one (21) permits for single-family residential construction within the month of May.

• 18 Single Family Permits in Cedarbrook Ridge
• 1 Single Family Permit in Pecan Meadows
• 2 Permits in various areas

 The City has issued a total of zero (0) permits for two-family (duplex) residential construction within the month of May.

To date (May 31, 2022) the City has issued a total of seventy-nine (79) residential permits in calendar year 2022; seventy-one (71) single-family permits, eight (8) two-family permits, and zero (0) multi-family permits.

As of May 31, 2022, the estimated population for the City of Harker Heights is 34,495 residents. According to the US Census, the population as of April 1, 2020 was 33,097 residents. Since that time, we have added 471 new water accounts with an average household size of 2.97.
