Volunteering With The Library

Give Back to Your Community!
Adults and teens volunteer your time and talents to assist with children’s programs, book selection, virtual research, video filming, and more! Call (254) 953-5492 or e-mail [email protected] for additional information about how you can help out your Library.

Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library is a volunteer organization that provides financial support for the Library by purchasing equipment, sponsoring Family Reading Nights, assisting with the Summer Reading Program, sponsoring special holiday events, holding booksales, and assisting staff when there is a need. The Friends organization meets on the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Library. Download an application or call (254) 953-5492 for more information.

Teen Volunteers (ages 12 - 17)
Teens can volunteer, too! Here’s your chance to meet other teenagers, to learn valuable job skills, to be creative, and to make a difference! Teenagers assist with children’s programs, learn puppeteering, provide computer assistance, and offer their ideas for new and exciting teen programs and services! Call (254) 953-5492 or e-mail [email protected] to set up an appointment to become involved.

Library Board
Help the Library look at policies, procedures, services, and more! The City Council appoints Library Board members each fall. Library Board members serve three year terms and meet approximately six times per year. For more information about this and other City of Harker Heights Boards and Commissions, visit the City’s Boards and Commissions website.
