Wreath Decorating Contest

The City of Harker Heights is hosting a Wreath Decorating Contest! Design a wreath using this year's theme "Winter Wonderland". Wreaths must be handmade and can be made out of any materials. (i.e. mesh, burlap, confier greenery, etc.). No breakable/glass items are allowed on the wreaths.

Registration and wreaths can be dropped off by December 6, 2021 at the Harker Heights Activities Center (400 Indian Trail).

Judging and Voting (online and in person): December 10 - 14, 2021

Winners Announced: December 16, 2021

Outdoor Lighting/Decorating Contest

Citizens and business owners are encouraged to enter in either Harker Heights Parade of Lights 2021 Outdoor Lighting/Decorating Contest. Citizens will be able to vote by traveling around Harker Heights viewing all the entries on a map and returning online: www.harkerheights.gov/parksandrec to cast their votes. Maps will be available on December 10, 2021. This year we are not requiring a photo submission.

The contest is divided up into three divisions: Division I - Multi-family Home (Apartment/Townhouse/Duplex), Division II - Single Family Home (per area), and Division III - Business. There will be winners in each division with division II winners awarded per area. The City is divided up in four areas for division II. Additional awards will be given to overall WOW! Factor, Best Kid’s Theme, Best Use of Music and Movement, People’s Favorite (receiving the most votes overall) and more! Participants should ensure that all lights and decorations are on from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm during December 10 – 15, 2021. Winners will be announced on December 17, 2021.

Join us for our December Movie in the Park right after Frost Fest! The movie will be shown in the softball complex at the Harker Heights Community Park. Concessions will be available for purchase. Craft beer will be available for purchase for those 21+.

Coat Drive 11152021

November 15, 2021 - January 3, 2022

The City of Harker Heights is collecting new and gently used coats, winter hats, gloves, and scarves to benefit the KISD H.A.R.P. (Homeless Awareness Response Program). New socks and new underwear are also accepted. Accepting sizes Youth XS - Adult 3XL.
